Maryjane explained that although the artists use a variety of different clays, they are all Cone 5. A cone rating is the temperature range that the clay can be fired at. The artists all use cone 5 clays so that they can be fired together in the kiln. All the pieces on display were fired in the Manley Art Center kilns.
