Art Walk photos by Bill Schlichting and Nola Range
At Manley Art Center, David Guy explained how he combined two photos of the same image - one with a long exposure time and one with a normal exposure time - in order to create a print that accurately and artistically expressed what he saw. Works by the Chetco Photography Association are featured at Manley Art Center during November.
During Art Walk several members of the Chetco Photography Association spoke about their creative endeavors using a camera and photoshop. Photographers are invited to join the Chetco Photography Association which meets the first and third Friday of each month at Manley Art Center from 10 to 11:30 am.

Pastel Artist Les Cornish is the November Artist of the Month at Brian Scott Gallery.
Les Cornish was interviewed by Pete Chasar during the Art Walk.
Les was born in South Africa and was a popular artist there until he moved to Texas in 2001. While in Texas Les continued painting the South African scenes that he loved... until he and his wife, Natalie, visited the Oregon Coast. It was so similar to South Africa that they were hooked and moved to Brookings in 2012, where Les now enjoys painting the local coastline. Visit Brian Scott Gallery at 515 Chetco Avenue to see paintings of the local coast by Les Cornish.
The Chetco Community Public Library was one of the four founding venues of the Brookings Second Saturday Art Walk (along with Manley Art Center, Brian Scott Gallery and Words and Pictures). The Library has not participated during the past few years, but GREAT NEWS... the Library will return to the Art Walk in December. The Forest Room (formerly known as the large meeting room) will again display the work of local artists and the lobby showcase will also hold a display that is changed monthly. The work of Mary Whitaker is currently on display in the Forest Room and can be viewed during regular Library hours, but due to a conflict with the Friends of the Library book sale, the Library did not participate in Art Walk in November.
