There are 72 entries this year and 400 visitors voted during the first two weeks of the show. Awards will be announced on Labor Day Weekend.
Manley Art Center announces the opening reception for the June Art Exhibit, held Saturday, June 11th, 2022 from 3 to 6 PM at The Manley Art Center, located at 433 Oak Street in Brookings, Oregon.
The exhibit, on display from June 5th through July 3rd, features artist Linda Elesiya Evans’ landscape and seascape paintings. Linda’s work portrays nature’s beauty and showcases her appreciation for nature, its light, color, and recurring cycles. She promotes beauty and harmony for humans, animals, and all creatures living on our planet.
Linda shares, “Painting Plein Air brings me closer through a sensory experience of looking and feeling everything I'm painting in the moment. There is nothing better. Sometimes these experiences will be recreated out of necessity in the studio, but each experience cannot help but inform the finished work. I'd love to take you to each place I paint and have you see it in a new way. Painting for me is a way of life, through inspiration and opportunity. Whenever I look at nature, I'm painting in my head. Pastel, oil, and mixed media with watercolor are all a joy to work with. Each one suits a different time and place. My art gear is always packed.”
The rest of the exhibit will be filled out with a variety of art created by the Manley Art Center members. Each month Manley Art Center displays a new collection of members' artwork. Artwork in the gallery is changed out on the first Monday of every month, and all Art Center members are welcome to participate. Proceeds from the sale of artwork are shared between the artists and the Manley Art Center. The Manley uses its portion to further its mission to promote, through education, the appreciation, distribution, and enjoyment of fine arts and crafts.

Possibly the largest audience in two years listens to Pete Chasar interview artist Garrett Smith at Manley Art Center.
Garrett Smith, who you probably know as an amazing photographer, is also showing his glass art at Manley Art Center.
John Marshall provided musical entertainment at Manley Art Center during the May Art Walk.
Jenny Rosa shows a pirate ship she created from driftwood. Her work is on display at Ambiance by the Sea. During Art Walk Rosa also provided musical entertainment on ukulele.
Ambiance by the Sea offers a wide variety of locally created art.

Lin Jester shares an original short story at Kim's Garden Party.
A visitor shows featured photographer Matte Hanna her pictures at Forecastle Books. The Bookstore's new location features a spacious gallery at the front of the store along with more space for the books.
Spectators look at miniature paintings created by fourth graders at Kalmiopsis Elementary School. The students also presented mixed media self-portraits where half the art was a photo and the other half a reflective drawing.
The Fourth Graders created miniature versions of famous artists' paintings.
They also drew half self portraits alongside of photo images. The ones with the drawing on the right side were drawn right-side-up and the ones with the drawing on the left side were drawn upside down.
The students were on hand to talk about their artistic achievements.
Even the sculptures appear to be enjoying listening to the music of Lon Goddard at Brian Scott Gallery.
Brian Childers is Artist of the Month at Brian Scott Gallery. Not only is it OK to touch his sculptured wood assemblages, it is OK and fun to put the parts in motion.
