Registration for Art at the Port Exhibition begins on Wed. March 2

Registration for the 3d Annual Art at the Port Exhibition begins Wednesday, March 2 at Wright's Custom Framing in Brookings.

Mike Dwaileebe primed all the panels for the third year.  The art panels are ready to paint and seal.

Jenny Dwaileebe helped stack up the panels to await registration.

Registration begins at 10 am on Wed., March 2 at Wrights.
$10 Registration fee includes a primed art panel.

To enter the exhibition, go to Wright's to register and
obtain an authorized art panel and entry form.

The 2022 Theme is Captivating Coastal Images

Everyone is invited to participate.
All ages from children to seniors.
All experience levels from novice to professional.

Art at the Port is a summerlong, nonprofit Art Exhibition at the Port of Brookings Harbor Boardwalk, curated by Pelican Bay Arts Association and sponsored by the Oregon Cultural Trust and Curry County Cultural Coalition.

Preliminary Studies for Better Paintings

"Color gets the credit, but value does the work."

Class Summary:

We will be using both value & color to create studies before your final works are begun. You may complete 1 to 5 paintings during the course. All painting media welcome. Required drawing materials list available after registering. Subject matter is from your reference material. Artists of all levels of experience are encouraged to attend, however space is limited. Lively discussion & Q&A a must!

2nd Saturday at Manley Art Center

Maria Vaca, aka The Manley Cow, greeted visitors to Manley Art Center on a balmy February day.

David Guy and Benita Robinson served beverages on the lawn and Tropicalia Brazilian Cuisine catered the exquisite nibbles.

In the newly remodeled classroom visitors were encouraged to join in an art project.

The Art Project leader was none other than Chaney Delaire, PBAA President and also one of February's Featured Artists.

Pete Chasar interviewed February Featured Artists, Chaney Delaire and Bev Taylor.
Chaney is showing small, mostly abstract, multimedia pieces and Bev's sketchbooks depict primarily realistic images and include a variety of thoughts, inspirations and quotes.

The masked audience asked questions after the interview.

There was also a phantom Featured Artist for February.  Steve Delaire created the hanging stands for Bev Taylor's sketchbooks and the "Featured Artist(s)" sign.  They are beautifully created - and surprise! They are made of cardboard.

The 2nd Saturday Celebration is held at Manley Art Center during the winter hiatus of Brookings Second Saturday Art Walk. The next event will be held on Saturday, March 9 from 3 to 5 pm.
