The Oregon Arts Commission, in partnership with The Ford Family Foundation, seeks to build a statewide Artist Registry to increase access to funding programs and build a case for greater artist resources.
Oregon’s professional artists were especially hard hit during the pandemic. Most of them rely on public events to sell their work, and the statewide shutdown dramatically reduced their opportunities for income. Many were forced to give up their art to seek other means of supporting themselves. An Artist Relief Program led by the Arts Commission with funding from the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation and Oregon Community Foundation offset some of those losses, but great need remains.
Our artists reflect our humanity and our society in their work. They are important contributors to community vitality, wellbeing and enrichment.
