July After Art Walk Report

Pete Chasar interviewed Linda for a full house during the July Art Walk.

Linda Ross talked about her ceramic and mixed media work and says that the best art is art that makes you feel something and she only creates art that makes her feel good.
She is currently collaborating on pieces with Horst Wolf (at the left in photo) and is showing a piece here that she created in collaboration with Brian Childers (wood artist).

Georgia Cockerham was signing her latest book at Ambiance by the Sea. Murder Replete is book three in the O'Toole/Starker murder mystery series set in Brookings.

The Coach House Restaurant to Cater Maritime Dinner at Coos Art Museum

On Saturday, July 13, Coos Art Museum launches its 26^th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition with a dinner and auction fundraiser.  This exciting evening will begin at 5 pm with a social hour. Preview silent auction items and enjoy a refreshment of punch, beer or wine before dinner. The Maritime Dinner has become a favorite area tradition and is the savory highlight of the evening. Dinner will feature a “Seafood Extravaganza” presented by the Coach House of Coos Bay.

Chef Jim Lorenz will be preparing a seafood buffet for your dining enjoyment.  The menu items include: Barbequed Salmon, Clam Fettuccini, Dungeness Crab Dish, Cajun Shrimp, Barbequed Oysters, Bacon Wrapped Tuna, and Stuffed Chicken Breasts for those who prefer an alternative to seafood.

Artworks in the silent auction include just completed en plein air paintings by the participating 26th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition artists.  Proceeds from this fundraising event go to support Museum operations.

Reservations are recommended. Tickets for the dinner and auction are $50 for museum members and $55 for non-members. The tickets can be purchased at Coos Art Museum, 235 Anderson Avenue, Coos Bay, by telephone (541) 267-3901; credit cards are accepted.  New half-year museum memberships are now available at a reduced price for events and activities, July through October. Enter the "Celebrating the Creative Arts of Older Community Members" Exhibit at the Del Norte County Fair

Artists from throughout northern CA and southern OR who are 65+ are invited to enter an exhibit, “Celebrating the Creative Arts of Older Community Members”, which will hang in the floral building during the Del Norte County Fair, August 1st-4th.

Print a prospectus and entry form. Forms and fees must be postmarked no later than July 26th and mailed to PO Box 1480, Crescent City, CA 95531. You may also email the form by replying here and pay the entry fees at the time of artwork drop off on July 30th.

Save on Pre-Sale Season Tickets for DNACA's 37th Performance Series

Pre-Sale Season Tickets for DNACA's 37^th Performance Series are available now. These tickets provide a considerable discount to individual performance tickets as well as to normal Season Tickets, providing admission to all 5 concerts; they are transferable and replaceable if lost.
 
Pre-Sale 2019-20 Season Tickets will be available until we announce the lineup on August 12th. General tickets are $65, Senior (65 and older) are $50, Student (k-college, full-time) are $40, and Group (4 people total) are $150. Once the lineup is announced, the Season Tickets will be $70 for General, $55 for Senior, $45 for Student, and $160 for Group. They are available for purchase in Crescent City at Del Norte Office Supply at 240 I St and in Brookings at Wright’s Custom Framing at 810 Chetco Ave.
 
The concerts will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2019; Saturday, November 16, 2019; Friday, February 21, 2020; Friday, April 3, 2020; and Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Crescent Elk Auditorium at 994 G St in Crescent City, CA. All concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. Mark your calendars!
 
This is a great opportunity for those who purchase their season tickets regardless of the lineup to save and for those who haven’t purchased tickets before because of the cost to experience our Performance Series at a discount.
