March
Thurs. March 28 – Sumi Ink/Oil Pastel with Sandy Schroeder Learn a new technique using sumi ink/oil pastels on clayboard. This process includes adding sumi ink/oil to clayboards, then scratching if off to show the colored layers below. 1:00-3:30 $40 All materials included. Minimum of 3 students & a maximum of 8. There is a sample on the front desk of Art by the Sea Gallery.

Wed. April 10 – Venetian Plaster & Collage with Sandy Schroeder Venetian plaster will give texture. We will play with colored papers, stencils and acrylics. A fun process to experiment with colors and texture. 1:00-4:00 $40 All materials included. A minimum of 3 & a maximum of 8. There will be a sample at Art by the Sea Gallery.
Fri. April 12 – Sew a Simple Pillow or Small Dog Bed from Recycled, Chopped and Felted Wool Sweaters with Carol Jones Students will have the opportunity to select pre-cut colored squares of sweaters, then hand sew using the provided yarn, pins and needles, to make into a pillow (pillow form included) or a bed for a small dog. (They love natural fibers.) Enjoy a pot of tea and biscuits as you sew and mingle. 12:00-4:00 $65 A completed pillow sample will be on display at Art by the Sea Gallery & Studio in Bandon.
Wed. April 17 – Collage Group There is no specific instruction. Just bring your own project, materials and ideas to share. 1:00-3:00 $5
Thurs. April 18 – Create a Landscape Using Acrylic Paint by Jean Stephenson Students are encouraged to bring a photo or reference. 11:30-3:00 $35 Minimum of 4 students & a maximum of 6.
Sat. April 20 – From Complexity to Harmony: Creating Dynamic Paintings with Mixed Water Media – a workshop with Pam Haunschild – www.pamhaunschild.com. Students can expect to have fun creating textured, layered, complex backgrounds and then turning them into coherent paintings (choosing either abstract or representational). We will start by creating unique backgrounds with a variety of texturing materials and gesso on paper. The focus will then be to work with those backgrounds to make them into coherent paintings, using either watercolors or liquid acrylics and two different painting techniques: negative space painting and value capture painting. Some painting experience will be helpful. A materials list for this class will be provided on a poster displayed at Art by the Sea Gallery & Studio in Bandon. 9:30-4:30 $75 (There will be a $10 materials fee only for those who don’t have their own watercolors and brushes.)
Sat. April 27 – Create a Wire Wrapped Pendant with Shawn Tempesta Learn how to transform your found stones, agates and treasures into a beautiful pendant. All tools and materials provided, but bring your own stone if you wish. Beginners welcome. 12-3:30 $40

Sun. May 5 – Mother’s Day Love with Connie Reed Let’s have fun with DaVinci’s Spirits 11:00-2:00 $40 All materials included. Minimum & Maximum of 8 students. (More information to come.)

Sat. June 8 - Flourish with Flowers the Ikebana Way with Candace Heidenrich Uplift your spirit and environment in this meditative Ikebana workshop with Candace Heidenrich. Learn about Japan and the way of flowers, one of the three Japanese Arts of Refinements. In this workshop your will learn about selecting items from nature, arranging in a minimalist way, and how to bring arrangements into your daily life. Experiment with various materials and leave with a special Ikebana arrangement to enhance your home or office setting. All materials will be provided for one take home arrangement, including: kenzan, container, and natural items. 12:30-3:30 $55
