Siena Worthey, a Brookings Harbor High School Senior, took home the 'Best of Show' award at VISION 2017, an annual high school art competition underwritten by the Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation. Worthey’s submission, an acrylic titled “Vernazzo Summer,” won her a two-year tuition waiver to attend Southwestern along with a $250 cash-purchase award.
First Place - “Azure Musings”

Shawntisha Bailey, a Brookings Harbor High School Junior, was awarded '1st Place' for her work titled “Azure Musings.” Bailey received a two-year tuition waiver to attend Southwestern along with a $100 cash-purchase award.
Second Place -“Corazon Sin Fuego”

Brookings Harbor High School
Elias Soltero, a senior from Brookings Harbor High School, took home the '2nd Place' award for a ceramic and wire sculpture titled “Corazon Sin Fuego (Heart Without Fire).” Soltero received a $75 cash-purchase award along with a 2-year tuition waiver to attend Southwestern.
Sixteen other cash prizes ranging from $50 to $20 were awarded to grade division winners, grades 9 through 12.
VISION 2017 consists of artwork from 12 southern Oregon high schools. The 94 works of art by 79 students came from the following high schools in alphabetical order: Bandon, Brookings-Harbor, Coquille, Glide, Gold Beach, Marshfield (in Coos Bay), Myrtle Point, North Bend, Pacific (in Port Orford), Powers, Reedsport Community Charter School, and Winter Lake (in Bandon)
Each year the Vision exhibition continues to present the talents of our regional high school art students. VISION 2017 is on display in the upstairs galleries at Coos Art Museum through April 8, 2017.
Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies an historic 1936 Art Deco US Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay. The museum offers a wide range of arts activities including exhibitions, art classes and lectures. Hours are 10:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesday through Friday and 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday.
