The Curry County Cultural Coalition announces that competition for 2017 Oregon Cultural Trust (OCT) funds is now open to nonprofit affiliates in Curry County. Grants of up to $1,000 are available to groups that promote, preserve, and enhance the arts, heritage, and humanities resources found in Curry County.
Applications for grants for 2017 projects are due by November 10, 2016. Grants will be distributed to recipients at a reception in Gold Beach on December 3, 2016. Projects funded for 2017 must be completed and final reports received by September 30, 2017.
OCT funds are generated through direct donations, the sales of Cultural Heritage license plates, and individual state tax credits. One third of the money that the OCT grants each year is distributed among 45 county and tribal cultural coalitions, based on population. These autonomous coalitions set their own priorities and re-grant OCT funds within their jurisdictions. The Curry County Cultural Coalition reviews applications annually and awards grants to groups that fulfill the OCT mission of increasing public participation in Oregon culture.
The Curry County Cultural Coalition board is comprised of members from throughout Curry County. Nancy Angelesco, Paulianne Balch-Rancourt, and Elaine Roemen reside in Port Orford. Alexandra Eyer, Juli Marstall, and Jeanne Steele live in Gold Beach. Jon Carlson, Emily Grimes, Timm Rolek, and Chuck Weller represent Brookings.
