Grand Marshall Ira Tozer's choice was Jeanna Taylor's photo "Dead Beauty by Water"

The Pioneer Citizen's Award went to Anna Getchel for "Sweet"

Artist Anna Getchel from Gold Beach took both the Queen's Choice and the Pioneer Citizen's Ribbons.

Azalea Festival Art Show is Next Saturday & Sunday, May 28 & 29 in Brookings

May Brookings Second Saturday Art Walk marks 12 years

The May Brookings 2nd Saturday Art Walk marked the completion of twelve years of Art Walk in Brookings! The first Art Walk was held in June 2004.

The first four venues on the Art Walk in 2004 were Brian Scott Gallery, Manley Art Center, The Chetco Community Public Library and Words and Pictures. Three of those venues are still part of the Art Walk and many others have come and gone over the years.

The Chetco Community Library is currently featuring a show called "All Creatures Great and Small" with art by Christina Olsen, Jeannie and Tod Steele and Horst Wolf.

"Mother Nature" by Christina Olsen is just one of Christina's paintings that you can see at the Library this month.

Horst Wolf's bird paintings - come to the show to see others.

Creatures painted by the team of Steele and Steele. As well as painting individually, Jeannie and Tod Steele of Gold Beach collaborate to create paintings that include both their styles.

The Library's Lobby Showcase features a display by wood turner Mike Griffith.

Manley Art Center, another of the original Art Walk Venues, featured Pete Chasar interviewing Len and Violet Burton.

Len Burton paints landscapes and seascapes in oil - but is venturing into acrylics.

This year the Art Walk features two new venues: ABC Creations and Semi Aquatic Gallery.

During the May Art Walk, Semi Aquatic Gallery which features beach-themed oil paintings and prints by Spencer Reynolds, also featured a video and prizes by Wild Rivers Mountain Biking Association.

Mary Cleveland of "The King's Daughter" Majestic Jewelry Designs, was the featured artist at Feather Your Nest during the May Art Walk.

Wright's Custom Framing / Fog and Fine Art Gallery have been a part of the Art Walk for years. First at their original location next to the Curry Coastal Pilot and now in their much larger facility at 810 Chetco Avenue - across from Evergreen Federal.

This is Sara's 10th Annual themed multi-media show. Previous shows have featured subjects from mermaids to figures in motion, dogs, florals and more. This year the theme is "Birds".

Seeking Applicants for Executive Director of Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness (DNACA), a nonprofit arts council, is seeking applicants for its Executive Director. This is a 30 hr/wk position with a salary of $20-23/hr, depending on qualifications.  Review of applications begins May 16, 2016; anticipated start date is July 25.

Candidates should be energetic, dedicated, self-motivated and highly relational, with an ability to multi-task and problem solve.  They should have organizing and managerial experience, a passion for the arts, and an ability to manage the administrative and financial health of the organization while working in a community-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Job duties include leading and managing the daily operations of the organization, developing and tracking budgets, maintaining regular communication with the board regarding all organizational business, seeking and developing funding sources, management and development of programs and staff/volunteers, and maintaining relationships with community partners and funders.
