If you are looking for time away from the post-Thanksgiving shopping frenzy or wanting a fun experience while guests are in town, join us for some creative and family-friendly card making at Coos Art Museum Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Liv Drahos will guide participants in creating personalized, unique cards for the holidays using a variety of media along with stamps and stencils.  All materials are included and all artistic skill levels are welcome.  This shared family experience is designed for teens and adults; however, younger children may be permitted to participate with a paying adult.  If your child is 12 and under, please check with the Education Director first prior to registering.

The cost is $15 for CAM members or $18 for non-members, all materials not included. Class size is limited to 16 participants. For registration go to www.coosart.org or visit Coos Art Museum at 235 Anderson in Downtown Coos Bay.

Manley Art Center's Featured Artist for October is Heidi Keller.

Heidi Keller's work will be on display at Manley Art Center during the month of October. Gallery Hours are Tues - Sun, 11 - 4.

"Drawing Faces" - Free Workshop by Pat Renner

 

Pat Renner will be teaching a free workshop, sponsored by Curry Arts, titled "Drawing Faces:  A step-by-step approach to success."  It will happen on October 24th, from 9:30 to 3:30, at the Extension Offices in Gold Beach (in the Fairgrounds complex).

She will teach a basic method, which has been used for centuries, to teach drawing by breaking subjects down into basic shapes.  Lots of lines will be drawn and many will be taken away until the face is individualized.  Then, the hair will be added and modeling begins.  During this stage, Pat will work from the same photograph as the participants.

Next, techniques for making the subject look different will be demonstrated.  After a short break, Renner will illustrate the "tricks" used by both amateur and professional artists--from the elementary to the electronic.

Participants will then use their own photos to apply the basic techniques, with helpful hints from the instructor.  After a lunch break, Pat plans to demonstrate how she begins a drawing, from a live model, for a watercolor painting.  If you would like to participate in this free workshop and receive a list of materials, contact Pat Renner at 541-247-6787 or email her at [email protected].
