Curry County Cultural Coalition Awards Grants
CURRY COUNTY, OREGON (December 29, 2014) – The Curry County Cultural Coalition (CCCC) recently awarded grants totaling $8,120 to ten organizations whose projects most closely fit the goals and guidelines of the Oregon Cultural Trust (OCT) and the CCCC.
OCT funds are generated through direct donations, the sales of Cultural Heritage license plates, and individual state tax credits. One third of the money that the OCT grants each year is distributed among 45 county and tribal cultural coalitions, based on population. These autonomous coalitions set their own priorities and re-grant OCT funds within their jurisdictions. The Curry County Cultural Coalition reviews applications annually and awards grants to groups that fulfill the OCT mission of increasing public participation in Oregon culture.
The award recipients for upcoming projects and events in 2015 are:
Brookings Area Council for the Arts - American Music Festival, $1,000
- Curry Arts, Inc. - Artist Workshops, $1,000
- Curry County Fair - Experience Drumming Interactive Sessions, $1,000
- Friends of the Langlois Library - An Evening With Brian Doyle, $600
- Port Orford Arts Council - Community Welcoming Dinner for the Confederated Tribes of Siletz during the “Run to the Rogue,” $800
- Port Orford Main Street Revitalization Association - Wayside Signage to Promote Historic Sites, $1,000
- Port Orford Public Library Foundation - Educational DVDs for North Curry Residents, $400
- Southern Oregon Kite Festival - Young Poets’ Contest, $320
- Stagelights Musical Arts Community - Wild Rivers Music Festival, $1,000
- Yoga Club of Gold Beach - Introduction to Dance Classes, $1,000
