This new event in Brookings is planned for future 4th Fridays of each month. The first "Artistic License" held at Brian Scott Gallery on Friday evening exceeded expectations for attendance and fun. "Art That Inspired Me" was the theme of the inagural event, and three Brookings writers talked about their favorite pieces of art and read related passages from their own or other published works.
Horst Wolf introduced the event and invited everyone to partake of complimentary wine and cheese.
Shirley Hyatt talked about a Beatrix Potter print of Tom Kitten that she accquired from Lorraine Williams and read one of her favorite selections from "The Tale of Tom Kitten".
Lynn Guild read a moving piece she wrote about her wonderful canine friend "Girl" and showed one of her favorite paintings (far left) by Sara Broderick. Tissues were passed after the reading.
Angela Ewing discussed an impressionist painting of Bastille Day and read one of her excellent published works - ending on a humerous note.
A fine event! Looking forward to the next one.
