Quite a crowd gathered on Chetco Avenue to see just one painting - but it was a big one!
Brookings Mayor, Larry Anderson, presented the 40 foot mural that anchors the new "Hillside Pedestrian Oasis" at the corner of Hillside and Chetco Avenue.
Pete Chasar, chair of the City's Public Art Committee, and Mayor Anderson, told the history of the pedestrian park and talked about plans for adding sculpture, more plants, and a picnic bench. More info about Hillside Pedestrian Oasis.
Marshall Thompson entertained at Manley Art Center where the theme for September is "Storms, Fog and Rain" and Mary Heflin is showing watercolors in the Intuitive Painting Method. The large painting behind Marshall is by Jim Speas and contains 46 hidden items. Come in and see the art from 11 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through Sunday.
Robin and Chelle Hanna were at Salon Dolce, drawing, painting and showing their colored pencil and watercolor work.

Horst Wolf introduced pianist Rosemary Creighton at Brian Scott Gallery.
Leslie and Horst Wolf enthusiastically performed German Drinking Songs at Brian Scott Gallery.
The songs were well done and entertaining, even though most of us couldn't understand a word. When asked for a translation, Horst just blushed.
Later at Brian Scott Gallery, the Limericists "waxed wise".
The combined Signatures Gallery and Brian Scott Gallery have an impressive catalog of artists, both local and international.
Chetco Library is presenting a show called "All Critters Great and Small". The artists represented include Sandy Bonney (pastels/oils), Sara Broderick (watercolors), Vi Burton (photos), Janice Guernsey (Acrylics), Christina Olsen (acrylics), Dale Wells (watercolors), and Horst Wolf (acrylics).
There are more critters to see at the Library all during September.

Spectrum Sounds at Wrights Custom Framing and Art Supply. Many local artists are currently showing in the gallery at Wrights.
