Saturday Kids Art and Special Ribbons Recap
More than 300 works of art were enjoyed by the crowd on Saturday and Sunday during the Azalea Festival Art Show held at the Middle School Gym in Brookings.
Several local artists demonstrated their techniques during the show. Frank Gustafson painted oils.
Jane Opiat set up her loom to show how she creates wearable art.
Arline Saul created caligraphic art works using names of show visitors.
Raffle prizes were abundant.
The silent auction included art, dinners at local restaurants, and many other items.
The SATURDAY NIGHT ART GALA was packed with activity.
Jay Mosby, Buzz Stewart, and Claudia Mach, all members of the Life Drawing group that met for years on Thursday nights at Manley Art Center, offered free portraits to show goers. Each artist completed several charming portraits during the gala.

Audi Stanton held a "make it and take it" workshop
Participants created small books to take home.
The Raffle Booth did a brisk business
PBAA Vice President, George Cady, sold a few yards of raffle tickets to Brad Pettinger.
Mr. Pettinger divided the tickets among family members who filled them out and put them in the containers for the raffle items they liked most.
Show goers created a hand made card with Marjorie Tower of Creating Lasting Memories.
Enjoying the Gala, Katrina Parke, Janice and Paul Guernsey.
The Saturday Night Gala included some great door prizes. Event Chair Cilde Grover held the golden bucket for announcer Philip Wadsworth to choose a winning ticket.
Door prizes included a gorgeous necklast from Harbrook Jewelers, a gift certificate from Jerry's Rogue Jets, a flower arrangement from Flora Pacifica, and a portrait to be painted by Garretta Lamore.
A live auction offered 2 rounds of golf at Salmon Run and an overnight stay at Redfish LOFT in Port Orford.
Many thanks to Clide Grover and all of the Azalea Festival Art Show Committe who worked long and hard to make 2011the best show ever. Cilde Grover, Cathy Moore, Joan Eddy, and Bobbie Geney were the core, but many other members of PBAA at Manley Art Center contributed to the success. George Cady organized the raffle and silent auction.
