At Manley Art Center, East Coast Artist, Ernest Principato, continued a demonstration that he began last Thursday at the December meeting of the Pelican Bay Arts Association.
Working from a completed painting he did of the Chetco Point area in Brookings, Principato demonstrated how he begins a painting by making a sketch in yellow ochre (a color that doesn't stain and can be wiped off if you change your mind).
Second he lays in planes of color.
Finally he refines the colors and shapes, adding detail.
