Community Mural time has come around again.
We are looking forward to June when under the leadership of Garretta Lamore and friends, a mural depicting the 1800’s in Crescent City, will be painted on the H Street wall of the Daily Triplicate Building. The completion of the mural will coincide with the BID sidewalk sale in June so that we can all celebrate together. Sarah Sampels will chair the coordination of the event with the team of Artists.
Marc Harper will be helping with the details that Garretta needs done. Fund raising is in the capable hands of Linda Ging. The Society looks forward to working with all of the artists from the gallery to bring this beautiful scene to life.
There are several murals in the works for the good days of Spring and early Summer. A logging mural will be going on the end of the Front Street Inn. Diane Feller is designing a mural about Logging in Del Norte County. Kathleen Kresa has designed a mural for Hiouchi Motel. We will be seeking the last bit of funding for that from the Hiouchi community.
You may have noticed the Discount Liquor Store wall is nearly completed with the scene of Castle Rock and the bird sanctuary done by Kathleen Kresa. This is a beautiful new addition, repairing what had been the mural of the balloon.
In the spring we will also be sponsoring a mural on Pike Field with Students from the Alternative Education Classes helping with the painting. This is an exciting new idea for the Community and the Society.
The Smith River Heritage Foundation has two murals in the works. One by Liz Crockett featuring the Lilies and Farming. Kathleen Kresa is doing a history mural on the Rays Building. Wonderful projects for the Smith River Area.
Harley has started the long mural on the low wall in downtown Crescent City. He has several other murals in progress.
If you want to help with any of these murals, drop a note to P.O. Box 1504 or call 464-2910. We always need help painting, organizing and FUNDING!!!
