When I arrived at Manley Art Center it appeared that someone was having a camp-out in the back yard. The smell of wood burning, smoke drifting, the sound of people laughing - but what are they cooking???
I asked Maryjane Carlson (ceramic artist and teacher) what they were doing and she casually replied, "Smoking Pot (s)".
Four local ceramic artists were demonstrating how they "smoke" already fired clay pieces until they are well blackened, then scrape off the black to reveal a highlighted design in the clay.

Inside Manley Art Center we found a table loaded with goodies, Violet Burton was leading a mask making project for all ages, and Marshall Thompson played guitar and sang. Above Mary Isakson and past PBAA President, Char Lane, enjoyed the gallery display.

Ann Ostrowski showed her watercolors (primarily florals) at Wrights Custom Framing. Nola Range showed her sporting dogs - but, oops, that's me and I was on the wrong side of the camera for a photo. You can see Ann's florals and koi, and Nola's sporting dogs at Wrights during the month of May.

Setting the mood at A Wild Bird and Backyard General Store, was a young guitarist. Sadly, I didn't get his name. Does anyone know the name of this entertainer?
It's 7 pm and I'm back at Wrights to see if there are any of Susie's fabulous cookies left. Rapp Brush entertains below some of Ann Ostrowski's watercolor florals.
Now we're going home for some of Ken's famous Crab Cakes, made with Dungeness crab that were swimming off the shore of Brookings just this morning.
