Impressionist Elio Camacho taught a still life workshop in oils at Manley Art Center on Thursday. Elio has studied with Master Impressionist, Ovanes Berberian and he holds both plein air and still life workshops around the country.
Before the workshop Elio did a free hour long demonstration for PBAA members and guests. Elio told the artists, "You don't know where your talent can take you until you put in the work." Talent is a factor, but time spent painting is a critical element in creating good art.
In July 2009, Elio will hold a five day plein air workshop in Brookings. Students will paint at various sites along the ocean and hopefully spend a day on a river scene. Sign up for all five days, or a shorter course. The workshop fee is $395 for five days or $100 per day for fewer days. See Elio's website for workshop information and to view more of his art.
Workshop students at Manley Art Center (Nola Range, Bobbie Geney, Claudia Mach, Ann Ostrowski). Twelve students took the four hour workshop and high energy Elio managed to provide individual instruction at the easel of each student several times during the session.
