There once was a limerist from Brookings
Who came to the Art Walk just looking,
She uttered a rhyme
and found in no time
She was scheduled for regular bookings.

Aarrrrghhh! I've never been a fan of limericks. In more than two years of visiting nearly every venue at almost every Brookings Second Saturday Art Walk I've managed to miss every performance of limericks!
Saturday night I was tricked. The spirits of Halloween did it.
I came out of the Cave (officially known as Wright's Cellar) where bohemians Horst Wolf and Scott Graves were right at home, the music was upbeat-mellow and I was visiting with artist Lorelei Hanna (right) .
Right there in Artwalk Alley costumed people were gathering for an event. Great! This looked like a photo op! I followed them into The Alley Galley (another underground venue that by day is the Curry Coastal Pilot's conference room). The music of Carl Rovain and Friends was lively and inviting... for about five minutes... then the music stopped and the costumed people rushed to the "stage". LIMERICISTS!
"Brew" and "Boo" were their operative words,
And finer limericks you've seldom heard.
In costumes so charming, with verbage alarming,
Their tricks and their treats were just plain disarming.
And when they were finished each rolled up a sleeve,
Hurled handfuls of candy and shouted "Please leave."
OK, that's not actually a limerick, but it rhymes pretty well doesn't it. I'm a changed Art Walker... I think I could learn to love hating limericks. Just don't punish me.
You've got to see the close ups...
I did make it to several other venues...
At Signatures Gallery Kate Averill and Sandy Bonny discussed "Different Ways of Viewing Art". The works of Royal Canadian Artist Duncan Regehr are on display as well as those of Drew Struzan.
Rogue River Jam entertained at Eye for Art where new works by Gold Beach Artist, Lorraine Filippone appear regularly.
Guests enjoyed the work of Buzz Stewart and Magda Druzdzel again this month at Words and Pictures.
Wright's Custom Framing offered a mountain of Chocolate Chip Cookies and the Italian Cafe music of Karina and Marco.
Crescent City Artist, Laura Weins discussed her oils with guests at Wrights.
The Crescent City Four held an exhibit at Chetco Library. Above are works by John Helgeson. Below are works by Kirkpatrick.
At Manley Art Center (MAC) there was a lot of carving going on... but no pumpkins in sight yet. Those arrive on October 24 for the annual Halloween Party.
Craig Barnes demonstrated and displayed a variety of his exquisite pieces.
Colorful collages were added to the mix at MAC. Artist of the month Brenda Stafford greeted guests and showed them her work and the work of Bette Sherbourne (also an October Artist of the Month).
Halloween is nearly here. If you come across a Limerist while Trick Or Treating -- DUCK. They have a frightening way with candy.
