Buzz Stewart carries his sketch book just about everywhere and sketches daily. His sketches are the inspiration for his paintings and he often combines multiple sketches to create one painting.
At the September monthly meeting of the Pelican Bay Arts Association at Manley Art Center and Gallery on Thursday, Buzz demonstrated watercolor painting and talked about his paintings. He also allowed members to peruse his sketchbook; something not all artists are willing to do.
The artist’s job is to take form and an idea and make it into art. To do this well, Buzz admonishes, “We should paint what inspires us.”
Buzz currently has eight NEW paintings on display at Words & Pictures Gallery in Brookings. You can see them and meet Buzz Stewart at the Brookings 2nd Saturday Art Walk on Saturday, September 13, 2008. THAT'S TOMORROW!
