A Plein Air Challenge
Whaleshead Beach - Saturday, June 28
At 11 am you couldn't see the rocks from the beach. At noon the rocks were coming and going in the mist. Time to begin painting - it's a nice moody scene.
Artists from Brookings and Crescent Ctiy gathered to watch Elio Camacho creating directly from nature.
Now look what nature has done... no fog, no blowing mists, just high clouds. The rock edges are sharp and the horizon is completely visible... the painting has changed with the weather... but Elio liked that misty look. It was his first impression of the scene and it's still fresh in his mind.
So he recaptured the mist on his canvas.
Nice job! A beautiful painting of a beautiful Oregon Coast scene.
Elio will hold a plein air oil painting workshop in Brookings on July 7 to July 11, 2008.
The first demo of Elio's Brookings workshop (9 am on July 7) will be open to the public.
See Elio's website for more information and to send him an email.
