Gold Beach High School Senior Project Art Show at Pieces of Time Gallery

Pieces of Time Gallery in Gold Beach, Oregon presents: The Gold Beach High School Senior Project Art Show. Three seniors at Gold Beach High School; Crystal Bailey, Whitney Rowe and Lucie Williamette are showing their work. A reception for the artists will be held on May 2, 2008 from 5 pm to 7 pm. YOU ARE INVITED to meet the artists. Refreshments will be served and there will be live music by Darren Kuykendahl.

Spring Art Roll in Gold Beach, Oregon

Seven Gold Beach galleries offered art demonstrations, live music, and refreshments -- plus a prize for anyone visiting all seven galleries and a 10% discount on artwork purchased during the event.

Pieces of Time Gallery included the work of several artists, including Horst Wolf and Lorraine Fillipone. Darren Kuykendahl provided musical entertainment.

At Gray Whales Gallery, the music of Paul Renner and Harry Hoogesteger was an "irresistible listen". The gallery features two long walls of works by local artists, including Don Jensen, Dale Wells, and many others.

THE BISCUIT GALLERY was the scene of Shelly's Revenge... exactly what the revenge was for is uncertain...
  but it was certainly a lot of fun! Shelly's "goal" was to teach Biscuit Bookstore and Gallery owner, Ted Watkins, to paint in 15 minutes. Ted arrived with this own painting supplies, which Shelly immediately confiscated. Ted "pulled up" his sleeves and got to work with Shelly's art supplies.  He demonstrated such amazing talent that Shelly had to slow him down with a blindfold. Ted didn't seem fazed...
  he continued to work even when several  local artists rushed out with spray paint and markers and used his "painting smock" for a canvas.
Ted's finished work was a bit of wonderful whimsy... Ted's comment: "I've always thought you had an easy, job. Now I know you do." Whose revenge was this???   

21st Anniversary of America's Wild Rivers Coast Art, Seafood, and Wine Festival in Gold Beach, May 17 - 18, 2008

This will be the 21st year that art, seafood, and wine enthusiasts converge on the Oregon coastal town of Gold Beach for the annual America’s Wild Rivers Coast Art, Seafood and Wine Festival. Mark your calendar and join in on May 17 and 18.

Admission is $10 per person and includes both days. Wine tasting and a raffle ticket are included in the admission price. The first 1,000 visitors will receive a free limited-edition souvenir stemmed wine glass. These glasses have become collectors’ items.

15 of Oregon's finest wineries and 5 local restaurants will offer tasting of wine and bistro-style food. 35 local artists and craftspeople will display their art, and some will demonstrate their craft. Local musicians will entertain.

All this happens at The Event Center on the Beach in downtown Gold Beach. 11 am to 8 pm Saturday and Noon til 5 pm on Sunday.

Wild Rivers Coast Artists featured at Coos Art Museum for the 2008 Expressions West Exhibition--April 25 to July 5

Four Wild Rivers Coast Artists have had paintings accepted by the Expressions West Exhibition at the Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, Oregon. Brookings artists Pete Chasar and Horst Wolf, Gold Beach artist Jeanne Steele and Crescent City artist Lloyd Kirkpatrick are all represented at this prestigious show.

The Expressions West Exhibition in Coos Bay runs from April 25 to July 5, 2008. The Coos Art Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm, Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm and is closed on Sunday, Monday, and major holidays. Look for The Expressions West Exhibition in the Maggie Karl Gallery and the Perkins Gallery.  This is an annual juried competition that includes the work of painters from thirteen western states.

April Art Walk in Brookings, Oregon

On a balmy, summer-like evening on the second Saturday in April, the art community held celebrations all over Brookings. At Manley Art Center members of the Thursday Night Drawing Group (Charlotte Palmer, Rob Decker and Claudia Mach) demonstrated their talent at portraiture while Rebecca Hanna posed.

Sarah Logan wrote guests' names in calligraphy - you could choose to have your name written in large letters on plain paper or in smaller letters on a 9 x 12 beautiful, original watercolor of a flower.
Rapp Brush and Perry Devine provided musical entertainment in the Gallery.
The refreshments provided by C & K Markets (Ray's Food Place) were outstanding!
Earl Mohr appeared at Words and Pictures as "The Reading Wizard of Od" and Ron Oden of Tahoe Vista, CA showed oils, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media paintings. As usual, Nina Paulsen was on the keyboard.

Chetco Library featured a Liz James retrospective. Twenty-one of Liz James' works were graciously lent by the various owners who have collected them over the years. Friends shared their memories of Liz.

Autos by Dale Wells. The theme at Central Gallery was "Auto Art". The parking lot was filled with vintage autos, and inside the gallery auto art by Dale Wells, Janeen Vick and Christina Olsen covered the walls.

Coast Artists at the Watercolor Society of Oregon's Spring Convention in Hood River, Oregon

Alexandra Eyer and Shelly Wierzba of Gold Beach and Horst Wolf of Brookings attended the Watercolor Society of Oregon's Spring Convention and Show in Hood River. All three had paintings accepted by the show. Alexandra's painting (above) received an award and will travel with the other award winning works until the Fall Show which will be held in Florence, Oregon.
