Ron Ranson’s Approach to Watercolor Painting
Ron’s watercolors are impressionistic and representational. Using his signature hake brush, his aim is to produce strong and colorful paintings with economy of stroke and a limited palette. He not only does several demos each day, painting as he explains, but works with each student on a one to one basis every day. Strong design principles are emphasized, as they are the foundation of every good painting. Sound painting techniques are put forth, but students quickly relax with his friendly English sense of humor. Ron is a seemingly tireless watercolorist with a worldwide teaching reputation, having written 25 books on painting, and countless articles for art magazines throughout the U.K., Europe, Australia, South Africa, Scandinavia and the USA. These are translated into many languages, as are his instructional videos. You can see his work on the website at www.ronranson.com.
