East Coast Artist Ernest Principato held an oil painting workshop at Manley Art Center in Brookings during December, and gave oil painting demonstrations during the Art Walk and at the December meeting of PBAA. Ernest also gave a watercolor demonstration at the Cresent Harbor Gallery in Crescent City on December 14.
For both oil and watercolor painting Ernest encourages starting with color that "scares you", laying in big abstract shapes to define areas of color and light, and only after that is complete, detailing the painting.
