Manley Art Center in Brookings is offering a five day watercolor workshop with Larry Johnson on August 18 - 22, 2008. A limited number of students will be accepted so that there will be time for individual attention.
You'll learn how to "control" watercolors - timing, washes, brush work, composition, and positive and negative painting. Larry uses a step-by-step approach to teaching so that everyone has a chance to practice every technique.
Required Materials:
2 Plastic water containers
The colors and palettes you have been using
Watercolor Brushes:
Rounds #4-6-8
Flats 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" & 1"
2 full sheets of 140 lb. cold press paper (to be quartered)
Natural and kitchen sponges
Ruler
#2 pencil
Eraser
Kleenex
Windex bottle finger-pump (clean)
Old white hand towel
Notebook for taking notes
Photos or reference material to paint
The class fee is $200 for members of PBAA and $250 for non-members. A $50 deposit will hold your place in the workshop. If the class fills it's a good idea to put your name on the waiting list in case of a cancellation.
Phone Janeen Vick at 541-469-4590 for more information about the workshop at Manley Art Center. Brochures for the workshop will be available at Manley in January.
