Hello to everyone. My name is Dannielle Dietrich and I live in the Brookings area. I have only been here about nine months, but have appreciated many of the art exhibits here, including a visit to the Manley Art Center as well as the many art exhibits at the public library. I am in awe at the beauty found here in both the people and the natural beauty that surrounds us. This has prompted me to seek your help. In 2005 my best friend's, then seven year old daughter, was diagnosed with brain cancer and died a mere seven weeks later. The family was devastated, but instead of turning their grief inwards they decided to something about it. In 2006 they created the Kyla McCullough Gift Fund, a non profit organization that raises money for Make-A-Wish Foundation and Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Since its creation it has been fortunate enough to raise over $35,000, mostly through their annual dinner and silent auction. On May 1st they will be having their third dinner and silent auction. I wanted to share the beauty of this area with the generous people that attend this fundraiser, and so I am asking if any one is willing to donate to this wonderful cause.
